Five ways to share your video online
Video is the most powerful form of advertising. But making a video and uploading it to your website isn’t enough – how will anyone find out about it if that is all you do? Obviously you can put it on your website homepage and main landing pages but you need to think further than that. You need to ensure your video gets seen by the right people, then the video does the rest as it compels the viewer to keep watching – we have evidence in case studies!
Here are our five ways to get the most out of your video on the web…
Online Video Platforms
If your videos should be anywhere other than your website it should be YouTube. In 2014 6 billion hours of video was watched on YouTube every month and YouTube is now the world’s number two search engine, second only to Google. It far outpaces any other video platform for coverage and profile raising. People are even ‘vlogging’ now which YouTube pays them to do because they get so many views on each video, if you have something interesting to say and can keep providing video content for your channel you never know where it could lead. One other thing; make sure your YouTube account is optimised so you can get found… that’s for another blog post!
There are many other platforms you can put your videos on such as Vimeo, they won’t be as effective as YouTube for video marketing purposes, but it’s worth uploading them for those extra.
Sharing
You probably hear about videos going viral, this is a direct result of sharing. Here I’m talking about Facebook, Twitter, E-mail, Google +, Linkedin, Vine and all those other platforms. You may upload a video to Facebook on your business page which has 100 likes, then share it on your own timeline to those friends, some of them might share it and their friends might share it and so on... Your video views could then sky rocket to the 1000s of views. Doing this on all of the platforms can get your video seen by people who might not usually see it and you never know who your next customer is!
Direct Marketing
YouTube and sharing can be seen by anybody, usually anywhere thanks to mobile devices. But what if you are specifically targeting a certain type of customer? Feel free to send them a message with the video in, include it in e-mail marketing campaigns you run to your loyal subscribers. Send it to businesses you wish to attract or while in a meeting pop the video up on your tablet or mobile and show it to the person in front of you.
Blogging
Video helps to push you up the Google search rankings, it’s all part of the SEO (Search Engine Optimization) formula. Video blogging is a must for business, it’s so simple that you can do it yourself. Video can complement your blog and pictures perfectly, getting you seen by more people.
85% of people would rather watch a video than read the text so get a video blog with your written blog which will extend your audience reach further.
Word of Mouth
Those people most likely to share your video are probably your friends, family and business contacts. Ask them to share it, they will probably be happy to help in return for a favour down the line, you never know who they know and it gets your video seen by more and more people.
