Project Objectives
Landsec, one of the UK’s largest commercial property companies, wanted to overhaul the health and safety induction process for contractors and staff at Leeds Trinity and White Rose, with a further rollout planned across the rest of the FTSE 100 companies' sites.
The aim to improve consistency and engagement in site safety training, reduce time spent on manual inductions and deliver key information efficiently to a large, rotating workforce while keeping everyone safe.
The Solution
We worked closely with Landsec’s health and safety team to design a bespoke video induction solution. Our production blended:
- Live action video for real-world context
- Drone footage to showcase key site layouts and access routes
- Animation to clarify complex safety procedures and site rules
This multimedia approach ensured every new starter - whether staff or contractor - receives the same high-quality, up-to-date safety information.
We began the scripted and storyboard process with with Landsec’s H&S leads to ensure accuracy and compliance, one signed off and with a voiceover selected we filmed on location at both Leeds Trinity and White Rose, capturing unique site features, site drone shots, people at work and information contractors would need to know. Animated sequences for step-by-step guidance on evacuation, PPE, restricted areas, and reporting procedures. Animation introduced a dynamic to the film that kept it engaging and ensured anything hard to show in live-action video was brought to life.
We crafted the video in a modular video content style, making it easy to update as sites or policies change and ensuring accessibility online for remote viewing before arrival, which reduces site downtime and saves staff hours.
£2.7 million annual cost saving by reducing reliance on in-person trainers and repeat sessions with a significant increase in productivity - contractors and staff are site-ready faster, with a reduction from 50 minute inductions to 15 minutes.
This solution also ensured consistent, compliant inductions for all personnel and received positive feedback from health and safety managers and contractors.
